| | Local and Family HistoryAll branches within our library service have a local history collection specific to their local community, these collections are the result of years of accrual and in some instances can only be viewed in the library due to their local historical significance and our inability to replace them if lost or damaged. The purpose of these collections is to act as a reminder of where we have come from, to honour the past and our cultural roots. We invite you to call into your local branch to view the local collection or you can request from other regional branches if you wish to access wider resources.
The library service supports the efforts of local historical societies and family history societies in their efforts to maintain and increase their history holdings, it is an aim of the library service to partner with these organisations to widen knowledge of their holdings and to collaborate on archival record development.
