| | Literacy programs ~ part of life-long learning for our communitiesWestern Downs Libraries promotes family literacy as the preferred pathway to learning. We have launched a new resource support program this year to help families introduce their children to early learning, access to good quality resources that are free enable parents to give their children the best learning start in life. Please call into your local branch and pick up an information booklet and browse the new early readers' range, these collections will be built on in the coming years to develop a strong learning resource base for families at their point of need. Library staff are happy to assist parents with their choices and to explain the learning progression branding that acts as a recommendation guide. If you wish to access or download some free online resources go to the Early Word website for a wide range of great e-resources.
We hope in the future to be expanding these resources and to be introducing more support programs for adult literacy (for information about adult learning programs please contact your local branch).
