Other Databases

Queenslanders have access to a number of authoritative, subscription-only databases that are not available through Google or other free search engines.

You can access these databases in the library - or from any computer connected to the internet . You can access these databases using your borrower card or you can get a free e-services card from State Library Queensland which gives you access to lots of enriched content (to do this just follow the simple screen prompts on the Connect login page).

Austlit Premier resource for research on Australian literature. Provides authoritative information on thousands of creative and critical Australian literary works relating to more than 67 000 Australian authors and organisations. User limit: 5

Gale Virtual Reference Library Ever wondered who was the first Pharaoh of Egypt? Or what's the latest in robotics? Gale Virtual Reference Library offers encyclopaedias and reference sources for research on many topics. You can access them from home twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, at the State Library or your local public library. We have selected 75 titles from all subject areas, such as Ancient civilizations reference library, Novels for students and customs of Australia. IIMP: International Index to Music Periodicals Full Text Provides indexing and abstracting for more than 420 international music periodicals, plus full-text articles from 83 journals. Nearly 472,000 article records currently included, the majority of which index the most recent 80 years of music publications. User limit: 4

Library PressDisplay Library PressDisplay provides a full-colour, full-page collection of today's newspapers from around the world. More than 200 titles are available.
