Becoming a Member

Membership of the library service is free. You can join at any branch of the library by presenting proof of your name and current address. There is no minimum age for joining, but those under the age of 18 years require a signature from their parent or carer.

Joining Online

You may join the library online by clicking on the button below after you have read and accepted the membership conditions. Your membership card will be posted to the address you provide on the online membership application form.

Conditions of Membership

  • To borrow items you must present your library membership card. DVDs, CDs some new releases and magazines are available for one week loan, all other items may be borrowed for four weeks.
  • You may borrow up to thirty items on your card. These can be borrowed from and returned to any of our branches.
  • Items may be renewed twice at any branch if the item does not have a waiting reserve. Staff are happy to renew items over the telephone during opening hours, please have your borrower number on hand. 
  • Items may be returned at any branch of the Library Service. After hour chutes are available at most branches. Items left in the chute after hours are regarded as having been returned on the next opening day.
  • There are no overdue fines for first and second reminders however if you receive a third level notice which is a tax invoice then you will incur a $5.00 admin fee and the replacement cost of the items.
  • Membership is suspended if you have long overdues items and outstanding charges in excess of $5.00.
  • Overdue notices are a courtesy reminder for your convenience. 
  • A reservation and/or inter-library loan service is available for those items which are on loan, available at another branch or at another library service. A small fee of .50 cents per items is charged for this service. You can place your own reservations for most items via the public access catalogue or you can contact library staff to do it on your behalf.
  • All costs incurred by the Library due to items lost or damaged while in your care must be reimbursed.
  • All reservation and inter-library loan charges are non-refundable.
  • If you change your address or name please notify us immediately.
  • Please report lost cards to the library immediately. You will be held responsible for any items borrowed before the loss is reported.
  • Membership details are confidential and will not be disclosed to other parties.
